Turkmenistan invites German companies to Caspian shelf development
Berlin, The Gulf Observer: Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, in a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Friday invited German companies to participate in the development of Caspian shelf, according to official Turkmen media.
The meeting, held within the framework of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s visit to Germany, identified the energy sector as a promising area for expanding bilateral economic cooperation.
The sides explored the possibility of collaboration in several specific areas of partnership in energy sphere. This included the participation of German companies in the development of Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy complex, with a focus on strengthening the oil and gas sector through German capital and technological expertise, conducting feasibility studies, providing services, supplying equipment and building new facilities in this area.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty highlighted the significance of developing the Caspian shelf, where Turkmenistan has already collaborated with major German companies such as Wintershall and RWE. He reiterated Turkmenistan’s willingness to consider specific proposals from German partners and create favorable conditions for their successful operations in Turkmenistan, according to the report.
Emphasizing the importance of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, the National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed Turkmenistan’s commitment to the project and its intention to resume discussions on the matter with relevant entities such as the European Commission and individual European states, including Germany.
During the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at any time convenient for him. Scholz accepted the invitation with gratitude, according to the report.
On Friday, Halk Maslakhaty Chairmanalso also took part in a meeting of Central Asian Leaders with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the meeting of Central Asian Leaders with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman also participated in a meeting of the heads of delegations of Central Asian countries and the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, and held bilateral talks with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany Robert Habeck.
