Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Meets Pakistani Federal Minister to Discuss TAPI Gas Pipeline Project

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Atajan Movlamov, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, convened with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Musadik Malik, on March 26, 2024, in Islamabad, according to media reports.
Ambassador Atajan Movlamov extended his congratulations to Minister Musadik Malik on his recent appointment and commended his notable contributions to the region. The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
In response, Minister Musadik Malik conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering strong ties with Turkmenistan. He emphasized the significance of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, highlighting its pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity and meeting energy demands.
The Minister underscored Pakistan’s unwavering dedication to the successful completion of the TAPI gas pipeline, emphasizing its importance for the economic development and energy security of the region. He assured the Turkmen delegation of Pakistan’s continued support and collaboration in advancing the project.
The TAPI gas pipeline project aims to establish a vital energy corridor linking Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Once operational, it is projected to transport 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually along an 1,800 km route, originating from the Galkynysh gas field, renowned as the world’s second-largest gas field, and culminating near the Pakistan-India border in the Indian city of Fazilka.
