TURKPA Delegation Reaffirms Strong Support for TRNC During High-Level Meeting

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, on Thursday received a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), led by Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasan, for discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing the TRNC’s engagement within the Turkic world.
Secretary General Hasan noted that during his visit, he held productive consultations with the foreign ministers and parliamentary speakers of TURKPA member states, during which the parties exchanged views on ensuring continued and enhanced support for the TRNC. He emphasized that TURKPA remains committed to fully supporting the TRNC’s active participation in the Assembly’s key events and activities.
Ambassador Hasan also briefed Minister Ertuğruloğlu on TURKPA’s recent major initiatives and highlighted the strong backing extended to the TRNC during the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Gabala under the leadership of the Heads of State. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to provide comprehensive support to further strengthen the TRNC’s presence and role in upcoming TURKPA engagements.
The Secretary General underscored that, under the leadership of TURKPA Chairman-in-Office Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, the Assembly has prepared several strategically significant initiatives for 2026. He stressed that the TRNC’s active involvement in these efforts will be essential to their success.
Minister Ertuğruloğlu expressed the TRNC’s commitment to deepening and expanding its relations with the wider Turkic world across all sectors. He emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation and extended his appreciation to the TURKPA delegation for their continued support in enhancing the TRNC’s visibility and engagement within the Turkic community.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for an in-depth exchange of views on future avenues of cooperation, as well as potential joint initiatives aimed at fostering closer ties.
Deputy Secretaries General Talgat Aduov and Muhammet Alper Hayali, along with staff member Alasgar Aghayev, were also in attendance.
