UAE and Vietnam Leaders Strengthen Strategic Partnership to Foster Economic Growth
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed His Excellency Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to Abu Dhabi during an official visit aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and advancing mutual interests. The meeting, held at Qasr Al Watan, focused on strategic opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and Vietnam in various sectors to foster development and prosperity for their respective nations.
In a warm welcome, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed expressed optimism that the visit would reinforce UAE-Vietnam relations, benefiting both countries. His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also attended the meeting, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
Discussions between the two leaders highlighted areas of potential collaboration, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, climate action, and renewable energy, aligning with both nations’ sustainable development goals. They also exchanged perspectives on regional and international issues of shared concern, emphasizing their mutual commitment to peace, stability, and diplomacy as essential for regional development.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with Vietnam, which has grown steadily since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1993. He noted that the UAE-Vietnam non-oil trade reached USD 12.12 billion last year, marking a 38.7 percent increase over 2022. As a Sectoral Dialogue Partner with ASEAN, the UAE continues to prioritize expanding economic ties with Vietnam, its largest non-oil trading partner among ASEAN countries.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister voiced his enthusiasm for enhanced economic and trade partnerships with the UAE, highlighting his country’s interest in exploring new avenues for collaboration. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception received by his delegation and commended the UAE’s commitment to shared progress.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed the Qasr Al Watan VIP guestbook, expressing his hope for continued growth in UAE-Vietnam relations. A luncheon was held in his honor, attended by ministers and senior officials from both nations, symbolizing the strength of their enduring partnership.
