UAE Conducts New Medical Evacuation Flight from Gaza in Cooperation with WHO

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: In cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Arab Emirates has carried out a new medical evacuation flight, transporting 155 patients and injured individuals, along with their family members, from the Gaza Strip. The flight departed from Ramon Airport in Israel via the Karam Abu Salem crossing.
Since the onset of the crisis, the UAE has evacuated 2,785 patients and their families to ensure access to vital medical treatment.
The latest evacuation was carried out under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as part of the UAE’s initiative to provide medical treatment for 1,000 Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients in hospitals across the country. These efforts reflect the UAE’s leading and continuous commitment to alleviating the suffering of civilians in Gaza and mitigating the devastating impacts of the humanitarian crisis.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, underscored the UAE’s dedication to delivering a rapid humanitarian response, including the urgent transfer of patients and injured civilians from Gaza. He stressed that these efforts reaffirm the UAE’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, reflecting its humanitarian commitment to provide immediate aid, support stability, and reduce the suffering caused by war and conflict.
Al Shamsi noted that critically wounded and injured patients have been transferred to hospitals in Abu Dhabi, while other patients and their families are being accommodated at the Emirates Humanitarian City, where they will receive specialised care under the supervision of medical teams. He further highlighted that the UAE continues to provide a range of medical, educational, and cultural support to patients and their families, with particular attention to children, women, and the elderly.
Since the beginning of the crisis, the UAE has implemented extensive humanitarian initiatives in cooperation with UN organisations and international partners. These include medical services, the provision of medication and essential equipment aboard the UAE hospital ship stationed at Egypt’s Al-Arish Port, as well as the operations of the Emirati field hospital in southern Gaza.
The ongoing medical evacuation flights form part of a comprehensive and urgent humanitarian response plan, aimed at alleviating the suffering of Gaza’s residents and providing relief to those most in need.
