UAE Delegation Attends Inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Vatican

Rome, The Gulf Observer: On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, arrived in Rome today to attend the inauguration ceremony of Pope Leo XIV as the new head of the Catholic Church.
Sheikh Saud was accompanied by Sheikh Khalid bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of the Investment and Development Office in Ras Al Khaimah.
The inauguration follows the passing of Pope Francis, whose papacy was widely recognized for advancing interfaith dialogue and promoting human fraternity. Notably, Pope Francis co-signed the historic Document on Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi in February 2019, alongside the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, a milestone that was later commemorated by the United Nations as the International Day of Human Fraternity.
The ceremony, held at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, drew participation from heads of state, global leaders, and high-level dignitaries in keeping with the long-standing traditions of the Catholic Church.
The UAE’s presence at the inauguration underscores the country’s continued commitment to fostering religious coexistence, peaceful dialogue, and cross-cultural understanding on the international stage.
