UAE Dispatches Urgent Humanitarian Aid to Myanmar Following Earthquake
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates has delivered urgent humanitarian aid to the Republic of Myanmar in response to the devastating earthquake that recently struck the country.
The humanitarian operation was carried out by the Joint Operations Command in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, the Emirates Red Crescent, the National Guard Command, and the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. The aid was transported through several coordinated airlifts as part of the UAE’s rapid response framework for international humanitarian crises.
This initiative underscores the UAE’s steadfast commitment to global humanitarian relief and its proactive engagement in aiding communities affected by natural disasters.
The dispatched aid includes over 200 tonnes of essential supplies, including food provisions, shelter materials, and medical assistance, aimed at alleviating the suffering of those impacted and supporting recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
The humanitarian shipment follows the successful completion of on-ground missions by Emirati rescue teams in the affected regions, further reinforcing the UAE’s comprehensive approach to disaster response and community support.
U Soe Thein, Chief Minister of the Yangon Region, expressed his deep appreciation for the UAE’s timely assistance and solidarity with the people of Myanmar.
“We extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for his generous support during these difficult times,” he said, highlighting the profound humanitarian values and the spirit of solidarity that define the UAE’s international outreach.
These efforts exemplify the UAE’s enduring dedication to humanitarian principles, its leadership in global relief initiatives, and its role as a symbol of generosity, compassion, and unity in the face of adversity.
