UAE, Finland Presidents Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today held talks with President Alexander Stubb of the Republic of Finland to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral relations and advancing shared development goals.
The two leaders met at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, where His Highness welcomed the Finnish President, who is undertaking an official visit to the UAE. Sheikh Mohamed conveyed his best wishes for Finland’s continued progress and prosperity.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the growing cooperation between the UAE and Finland, focusing on key development sectors such as the economy, trade, education, technology, space, and innovation. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest, reiterating the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable global growth.
His Highness highlighted the UAE’s commitment to further advancing its partnership with Finland, particularly in fields considered shared strategic priorities. He expressed hope that President Stubb’s visit—coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries—would help open new pathways for cooperation and prosperity.
Sheikh Mohamed underscored that the launch of negotiations on a free trade agreement and a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and the European Union represents a significant milestone in boosting bilateral trade and economic ties, including those between the UAE and Finland.
President Stubb thanked His Highness for the warm welcome and hospitality, affirming Finland’s desire to expand economic and trade cooperation with the UAE in sectors that support sustainable development. He acknowledged the positive momentum in the bilateral relationship.
Both leaders reiterated their shared commitment to broadening UAE–Finland ties, exploring new opportunities that serve the aspirations of their peoples, and contributing to wider global stability and development.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; along with a number of ministers and senior officials.
