UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team Triumphs at World Youth Championship in Greece with 42 Medals
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The UAE national Jiu-Jitsu team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, concluded its impressive run at the World Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Greece, amassing a total of 42 medals. The team’s haul included 11 gold, 13 silver, and 18 bronze medals, cementing the UAE’s strong presence on the global stage.
On the final day of competition, the young athletes showcased exceptional talent and determination in the under-18 and under-21 categories, winning a total of eight medals: two gold, four silver, and two bronze. In the under-18 boys’ division, Ahmed Andiz shone brightly, capturing gold in the 69 kg weight category. His teammate, Thani Al Muhairi, secured the silver medal in the same division, while Abdul Aziz Al Aqidi earned a bronze in the 77 kg weight class, and Ali Al Tunaiji claimed another bronze in the 85 kg category.
The under-21 girls’ division also witnessed outstanding performances. Maryam Al Ali took home the gold medal in the 45 kg weight class. Balqis Al Hashemi secured a silver in the 48 kg category, Aisha Al Shamsi earned silver in the 45 kg division, and Mahra Mahfouz added a silver in the 70 kg weight category. These accomplishments underscore the team’s dedication and the UAE’s ongoing investment in nurturing young athletic talent.
