UAE Parliamentary Leader Stresses Humanitarian Law as Pillar of Justice and Human Dignity at IPU Assembly

Geneva, The Gulf Observer: Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the UAE Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council (FNC) to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), emphasized that adherence to international humanitarian law is not merely a legal obligation but a fundamental guarantee for justice and human dignity.
Speaking at the 151st IPU General Assembly in Geneva, Dr. Al Nuaimi pointed out that the politicisation of humanitarian work amid conflicts and crises around the world has emerged as one of the most pressing challenges for parliamentarians. He called for humanitarian action to remain impartial and above all political and geographical divisions.
“I come to you from the homeland of humanity, the United Arab Emirates, conveying the greetings of a nation that believes in shared human values which unite us and help us overcome divisions and suffering. Humanity suffers when we fail to uphold laws and principles in addressing global crises,” he stated.
Dr. Al Nuaimi urged parliaments worldwide to cooperate and unite in addressing conflicts and humanitarian challenges, noting that millions continue to face hunger, insecurity, and limited access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and clean water.
He also highlighted the UAE’s prominent role in humanitarian and charitable initiatives, particularly across Africa and other regions, stressing that global stability and prosperity are collective responsibilities. Building partnerships and promoting shared values, he concluded, are vital to ensuring a better future for all.
