UAE, Zambia Discuss Expansion of Bilateral Relations and Economic Cooperation

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, who is on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates, with the two leaders discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in key sectors.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed welcomed President Hichilema and wished him success during his new presidential term. The two leaders reviewed the development of UAE-Zambia relations, particularly in the areas of the economy, renewable energy and infrastructure, while exploring additional opportunities to advance cooperation in support of their shared interests and development priorities.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, which span more than 50 years, and building on progress achieved in areas of mutual interest. They also emphasized the importance of development partnerships that support economic diversification and shared prosperity.

The meeting also addressed ongoing negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Zambia. Both sides expressed hope that the agreement, once concluded, would provide an important framework for expanding cooperation between the public and private sectors and further developing economic relations.

The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials, including Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Speaker of the Federal National Council Saqr Ghobash, and several members of the UAE leadership and government.
