UN Relief Chief Expresses Alarm Over Israeli Attack on Nuseirat Refugee Camp

New York, The Gulf Observer: The United Nations relief chief, Martin Griffiths, has expressed deep concern following an Israeli attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of 210 individuals and left more than 400 injured.

“Today, Nuseirat refugee camp is the epicentre of the seismic trauma that civilians in Gaza continue to suffer. The images of death and devastation following Israel’s military operation there prove that each day this war continues, it only grows more horrific,” Griffiths said in a statement.

He reiterated the dire situation in Gaza, emphasizing that nowhere is safe for its residents. “Health care in the besieged enclave is hanging by a thread,” Griffiths noted, highlighting the critical state of medical services amid ongoing conflict.

Griffiths also acknowledged the recent release of four hostages but stressed the urgency of freeing all those still held captive. “And even as four hostages are reunited with their families, we are reminded that scores are still being held captive. All of them must be released. All civilians must be protected. This collective agony can and must end now,” he urged.

The UN relief chief’s statement underscores the pressing need for international intervention to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to ensure the protection and safety of all civilians caught in the conflict.
