UN Secretary-General António Guterres Arrives in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Uzbekistan on June 30 for an official visit.

The distinguished guest was welcomed at Tashkent International Airport by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, along with other senior officials. The itinerary for Mr. Guterres’ stay in Tashkent includes high-level talks aimed at further enhancing and strengthening Uzbekistan’s multifaceted cooperation with the United Nations and its institutions.

The discussions will cover current aspects of global politics and regional cooperation, with a particular focus on supporting measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Uzbekistan. Additionally, the Secretary-General will visit several industrial and social facilities and participate in various bilateral meetings and events during his visit.

The visit underscores the commitment of both Uzbekistan and the United Nations to work collaboratively on issues of mutual interest and to promote sustainable development in the region.
