Uzbekistan and Egypt Hold First Interparliamentary Friendship Group Video Dialogue

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Senate of the Arab Republic of Egypt held their first video dialogue between their respective interparliamentary friendship groups today. This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the cooperation between the two countries, focusing on various areas of mutual interest.

The agenda of the meeting covered key issues related to the enhancement of Uzbek-Egyptian relations, particularly in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and interparliamentary fields. Both sides expressed their commitment to expanding the scope of cooperation, building on the strong foundation of their existing strategic partnership.

The dialogue highlighted that the relationship between Uzbekistan and Egypt has reached a new level of development in both content and quality. This advancement is attributed to the regular visits and ongoing dialogues between the presidents of the two nations, which have further solidified the partnership.

A significant part of the discussion centered on the shared historical and cultural values, as well as common customs, that bind Uzbekistan and Egypt. These shared aspects are seen as key factors in the deepening of cultural and humanitarian ties. The participants also discussed the need for joint projects in various fields, including science, education, the study of rare manuscripts, medicine, tourism, and hospitality.

The Egyptian delegation extended their best wishes for the success of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan, scheduled for later this year. They also expressed their readiness to participate as international observers in the election process.

An important outcome of the dialogue was the agreement to establish systematic parliamentary oversight to ensure the effective implementation of high-level agreements between the leaders of both countries. This step is expected to enhance accountability and ensure that bilateral initiatives are carried out successfully.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to organize the next gathering of the interparliamentary friendship group, either in Tashkent or Cairo. The date and agenda of the upcoming meeting will be coordinated through diplomatic channels.

This dialogue represents a promising development in the relationship between Uzbekistan and Egypt, paving the way for deeper collaboration across multiple sectors.
