Uzbekistan and Hungary Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Upcoming Samarkand Summit

Budapest, The Gulf Observer: A high-level meeting took place in Budapest between Sanjar Valiyev, Director of the Center for Foreign Policy Research and International Initiatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary, Oybek Shakhavdinov, with Márton Ugrósdy, Deputy State Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary.
During the discussions, both parties exchanged views on key topics on the international agenda, regional cooperation, and prospects for enhancing Uzbekistan-Hungary bilateral relations.
A significant focus of the meeting was the upcoming Samarkand Summit “Central Asia – EU,” which is set to serve as a vital dialogue platform fostering new mechanisms for interregional collaboration. The summit aims to address critical issues, including the strengthening of economic partnerships, investment cooperation, and the development of strategic infrastructure and energy projects.
The Uzbek and Hungarian representatives underscored the importance of a pragmatic approach in advancing relations between the European Union and Central Asian countries. They emphasized the necessity of mutual respect, equality, and consideration of the interests of all parties to ensure sustainable and productive cooperation.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both Uzbekistan and Hungary to deepening their diplomatic ties and exploring new avenues for strategic cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest.
