Uzbekistan and Iran Sign Key Agreements to Expand Bilateral Cooperation

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: A series of important documents aimed at enhancing Uzbekistan–Iran cooperation were signed in Tehran as part of the official visit of a high-level Uzbek delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to a statement from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The delegation from Uzbekistan was led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, while the Iranian side was represented by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref. The two sides held comprehensive talks focused on further strengthening their strategic partnership across a wide range of sectors.
During the discussions, both parties reaffirmed their shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion, and agreed on concrete measures to eliminate existing barriers in transport and logistics. Special attention was given to enhancing industrial cooperation and promoting interregional collaboration.
In addition to economic ties, the delegations emphasized the importance of developing partnerships in science, education, innovation, tourism, and culture. The two sides also underscored the need for close coordination among relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the agreements reached.
Following the talks, the following key documents were signed:
- Intergovernmental Roadmap for Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation for 2025–2027;
- Protocol approving the list of goods under the Preferential Trade Agreement;
- Memorandum of Cooperation in Plant Quarantine and Protection;
- Memorandum of Understanding on Halal Product Standardization.
These agreements are expected to significantly deepen Uzbekistan–Iran relations, providing a solid foundation for dynamic and long-term cooperation in both economic and non-economic spheres.
