Uzbekistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Strengthen Ties for Regional Cooperation and Prosperity

Peshawar, The Gulf Observer: On May 30, 2025, His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev had the honor of holding an important and inspiring meeting with His Excellency Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting focused on elevating interregional partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Both dignitaries explored concrete steps to deepen cooperation in key sectors including:
- Economy and investment
- Transport and logistics
- Geology, oil, and gas
- Digital technologies and agriculture
- Education, culture, and tourism
A special emphasis was placed on the strategic significance of the Trans-Afghan Railway Corridor, which will pass through Karlachi. This vital infrastructure project is expected to become a transformative artery for regional growth, integration, and shared prosperity.
The leaders expressed strong support for launching joint business ventures, expanding academic exchanges, and organizing the Uzbekistan–Pakistan Interregional Forum.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the implementation of the 2022 Memorandum of Understanding between Surkhandarya Region and the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, they agreed to fast-track the establishment of a sister city relationship between Termez and Peshawar.
Looking ahead, a business delegation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, led by Governor Kundi, is expected to visit Uzbekistan — a vital step forward in fostering bilateral collaboration.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi commended the bold reforms introduced by the President of Uzbekistan and confirmed his personal participation in the upcoming interregional forum.
Uzbekistan and Pakistan continue to strengthen their fraternal bond, rooted in shared history, rich cultural heritage, and a collective vision for prosperity.
