Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presided over a meeting aimed at enhancing regulations in the pharmaceutical industry to ensure the provision of high-quality and safe medicines to the population. Acknowledging the global growth in the pharmaceutical sector and the introduction of new medicines, the President emphasized the need for constant monitoring to ensure quality, identify, and analyze side effects.

On January 23, the President signed the Decree “On additional measures to regulate the pharmaceutical industry.” Under the new regulations, organizations involved in the production and sale of medicines and medical products are mandated to ensure the quality and safety of their products. Special rules for state control will be established to monitor their compliance.

To address potential threats associated with the use of medicines, the Good Pharmacovigilance Practices (GVP) standard will be introduced, and an electronic database on drug side effects will be created in the Ministry of Health. This system will provide prompt information to medical professionals and the public.

Customs and free warehouses storing medicines and medical supplies will be gradually brought into compliance with Good Storage Practice (GSP) rules. The Center for Good Practices under the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency will be reorganized into a government agency.

The President outlined additional measures, including the establishment of a special council under the Ministry of Health to approve the advertising of drugs and dietary supplements on television and radio channels. This move aims to enhance public health and contribute to the effective implementation of the regulatory decree.
