Uzbekistan, Malaysia discuss tourism collaboration

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur hosted a meeting between the representative of the Hokimiyat of Bukhara region and the travel company Clear Light with the Secretary-General of the Association of Bumiputera Tourism Operating Companies Malaysia (BUMITRA) Rahman Mohd Ali.

The Malaysian side was informed about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan and new tour packages.

The Malaysian side highly appreciated the ongoing measures for the rapid development of the tourism industry in the country and noted that historical centers such as Bukhara and Samarkand, traditional festivals, and handicrafts have great potential to interest Malaysians in visiting the country.

During the discussion of the possibilities of cooperation, the BUMITRA representative expressed interest in promoting tour packages in Uzbekistan, including along the Bukhara route.

A proposal was put forward to create a consortium between the administration of Bukhara region and the tour operator and large travel agencies that are members of the Malaysian Association.
