Uzbekistan Participates in 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament in Geneva

Geneva, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, is participating in the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland. The summit brings together women parliamentary leaders and global experts to advance leadership for an inclusive and sustainable world.
Held under the theme of promoting gender equality, peace, and sustainable development, the summit provides a vital platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange among women leaders on pressing global challenges.
The summit agenda includes discussions on the critical role of women in promoting peace and security, particularly through the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. The participants will also address emerging global threats, including climate change and gender-based violence in the digital space.
The first session of the summit is dedicated to reviewing the progress made under the women, peace, and security agenda over the past 25 years. It will also explore current challenges and future strategies for strengthening women’s role in global peacebuilding efforts.
The second session focuses on strategies for overcoming new and evolving threats, with an emphasis on best practices and policy innovation from participating countries. Delegates will exchange insights on inclusive governance, digital resilience, and gender-responsive policymaking.
The event features interactive debates, where speakers will present their perspectives on achieving gender parity, addressing digital threats to women, and fostering more inclusive political leadership.
As part of the summit program, Chairperson Narbayeva is scheduled to deliver a keynote address and hold a series of bilateral meetings with counterparts from other IPU member states. These discussions aim to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation and promote Uzbekistan’s commitment to gender equality and sustainable development on the global stage.
