Uzbekistan and China sign agreements for $15 billion.

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping today held talks in the Congress Center of the Great Silk Road International Tourist Center in Samarkand.

Agreements on implementation of priority projects worth of $15 billion in commercial, economic, investment, financial and technical spheres were signed.

The leaders exchanged congratulations about the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties and 10th anniversary of strategic partnership.

The bilateral trade reached record $8 billion last year. The bilateral trade has grown by more than 30% since start of this year.

China’s investments into economy of Uzbekistan exceeded $10 billion for the past 5 years.

The sides agreed to hold the Year of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and China next year in order to further strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the nations.

The sides found it important to continue joint efforts on facilitation of peaceful process in Afghanistan and economic reconstruction of this country, cooperation in the framework of international and regional groupings, including Central Asia-China dialogue mechanism.

President Xi Jinping has invited President Mirizyiyoyev to make return visit to China.
