Signing ceremony of memorandums on granting SCO dialogue partner status to Egypt and Qatar

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The ceremony of signing of memorandums on granting SCO dialogue partner status to Egypt and Qatar was held today in Tashkent as part of preparations for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.

The documents were signed by Shanghai Cooperation Organization General Secretary Zhang Ming, First Vice Foreign Minister of Egypt Hamdi Sanad Loza and Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Sidikov attended the event on behalf of Uzbekistan.

The signed memorandums envision cooperation between Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states and the above countries in regional security and stability, trade and investments, energy sector, IT, agriculture, transport and communications, culture, science and technology, education, health care, tourism, etc.

The dialogue partner status grants the right to attend the SCO events upon invitation of SCO member states.

The memorandums entered into force since the date of signing.
