Uzbekistan’s Time and Frequency Laboratory Joins International Atomic Time Group

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Uzbekistan’s Time and Frequency Laboratory, housed within the National Metrology Institute, has achieved a significant milestone by attaining full membership status in the International Atomic Time (TAI) group under the auspices of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), as reported by Uzbek media sources.
With this development, the laboratory joins a select group of global institutions contributing to the formation of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) within the BIPM TAI framework. Currently, 90 laboratories representing 69 countries are actively involved in shaping UTC through their participation in BIPM TAI.
The inclusion of Uzbekistan’s Time and Frequency Laboratory marks the 90th membership within the BIPM TAI consortium, signifying the country’s growing prominence in the realm of international metrology.
Furthermore, the laboratory’s maintenance of CCTF-K001, a crucial reference standard overseen by the BIPM Timing and Frequency Advisory Committee (CCTF), underscores its commitment to upholding rigorous standards in timekeeping and frequency measurement.
By participating in the main comparison activities facilitated by CCTF-K001, Uzbekistan’s Time and Frequency Laboratory not only enhances its own capabilities but also contributes to the broader global effort aimed at ensuring the metrological traceability of time and frequency standards to the International System of Units (SI).
This achievement underscores Uzbekistan’s dedication to advancing precision measurement standards and highlights the country’s growing stature in the international scientific community.
