Victory Day’s Fifth Anniversary Marked at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Baku, The Gulf Observer: An event marking the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day was held at George Washington University in the U.S. capital, Washington, D.C. The event was organized by the Azerbaijani Students Association of George Washington University, with the support of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

The commemorative gathering brought together Azerbaijani and international students from various universities across Washington, fostering intercultural dialogue and greater awareness of Azerbaijan’s history and achievements.

The event commenced with a presentation by Gulnur Aghakishiyeva, a student from the university’s Faculty of International Relations, who delivered an overview of Azerbaijan’s history, culture, and economy. She also spoke about the Victory in the Patriotic War, the ongoing peace process, and the peace agreement signed in Washington on August 8 between the leaders of Azerbaijan, the United States, and Armenia.

A Q&A competition based on the presentation followed, with participants demonstrating a high level of knowledge and enthusiasm about Azerbaijan’s historical and contemporary developments.

The event concluded with participants enjoying a selection of traditional Azerbaijani cuisine, offering a taste of the country’s rich cultural heritage and hospitality.

The celebration highlighted the importance of Victory Day in strengthening national identity among Azerbaijani youth abroad and promoting Azerbaijan’s message of peace and cultural understanding within international academic circles.
