Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos Strengthen Trilateral Ties in High-Level Meeting

HCM City, The Gulf Observer: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, Tô Lâm, hosted a high-level meeting with President of the Cambodian People’s Party and President of the Cambodian Senate, Hun Sen, and General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, in Hồ Chí Minh City on February 22.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
The discussions focused on global and regional developments, party and national affairs, and a review of past cooperation, while setting the course for future collaboration. The leaders emphasized the interdependence of their nations’ stability, security, and development, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to strengthening the traditional friendship that unites them.
They expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of trilateral cooperation, particularly in political relations, national defense, security, economy, trade, investment, culture, education, and science and technology. The meeting also highlighted the importance of deepening political trust and fostering close ties among high-ranking leaders.
Recognizing the evolving regional and global challenges, the leaders agreed to enhance defense and security cooperation, share information, and coordinate efforts to protect their national interests and tackle common challenges. They also stressed the need for breakthroughs in economic cooperation, especially in transport, trade, and tourism, while strengthening cultural, educational, and scientific-technical collaboration.
Additionally, they reaffirmed their commitment to promoting solidarity among younger generations and enhancing communication strategies to preserve their shared heritage. The leaders pledged to optimize existing cooperation mechanisms and explore new ways to bolster partnership efficiency for the benefit of their peoples and regional stability.
On this occasion, Hun Sen and Thongloun Sisoulith extended their congratulations to Lâm and the Vietnamese people on the upcoming significant milestones in 2025, including the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification (April 30), the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2), and the 135th birthday of President Hồ Chí Minh (May 19).
