Vietnam Committed to Shaping a Brighter Future for All, Affirms To Lam
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm of Vietnam delivered a video message on Thursday to the Global Call event in New York, held ahead of the highly anticipated Summit of the Future. In his remarks, President Lâm reaffirmed Vietnam’s active commitment to contributing to the Summit and supporting global efforts to promote peace, cooperation, and international solidarity in pursuit of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Vietnamese leader was invited to address the event by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President of Namibia Nangolo Mbumba, underscoring Vietnam’s important role on the global stage.
In his message, President Lâm emphasized Vietnam’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that development achievements benefit all citizens and that future generations are well-equipped for the challenges ahead. “We will relentlessly strive to ensure that the people fully enjoy development achievements and future generations are well-prepared for their paths ahead,” he stated.
He called on the Summit to focus on identifying transformative solutions to global challenges, emphasizing that progress must be driven by advances in science, technology, and innovation. Lâm underscored the importance of the United Nations in establishing legal frameworks to facilitate information sharing and aid countries in the safe and secure development of groundbreaking technologies, such as digital technology, artificial intelligence, and automation. He advocated for the fair and inclusive dissemination of the latest achievements in science and technology to all nations.
Highlighting the connection between sustainable development and green transformation, particularly in the areas of green technology, energy, and finance, Lâm proposed the creation of a global green technology platform. This platform, he said, could allow ASEAN and other regional organizations to share experiences and promote the development of green technologies.
Lâm further stressed the need for stronger support from the United Nations and multilateral financial institutions to effectively address current and future challenges. He called for increased resources to assist developing countries in their sustainable development efforts.
“We strongly believe that with substantive cooperation and concrete actions, we can achieve the Summit’s goals and lay a solid foundation for future generations,” President Lâm concluded.
The Summit of the Future is expected to bring together world leaders and international organizations to discuss solutions to the most pressing global challenges and build a sustainable, inclusive future.
