Việtnam, RoK Leaders Commit to Deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: President Lương Cường met with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Woo Won Shik in Hànoi on the afternoon of November 21, held within the framework of Speaker Woo’s official visit to Việtnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn.
President Cường warmly welcomed Speaker Woo and the high-ranking delegation of the Korean National Assembly, describing the visit as highly significant and contributing new momentum to strengthening the Việt Nam–RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a more substantive and effective manner. He affirmed that the two countries have truly become each other’s leading and essential partners.
Expressing his pleasure at returning to Việt Nam, Speaker Woo conveyed warm greetings from Korean President Lee Jae Myung and sincerely thanked President Cường for attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, noting that Việt Nam’s participation contributed to the overall success of the event. He affirmed that the RoK would actively share its experience and work closely with Việt Nam to ensure the successful organisation of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in 2027.
Speaker Woo emphasised that the relationship between Việt Nam and the RoK is “special and inseparable” and reaffirmed Seoul’s commitment to further enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He said the RoK stands ready to accompany Việt Nam on its journey toward becoming a developed, high-income nation by 2045.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the remarkable achievements attained across various areas of cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992. They agreed to continue reinforcing political trust as a foundation for expanding cooperation in other sectors and to advance the implementation of commitments made during recent high-level exchanges.
President Cường commended the results of the talks between NA Chairman Mẫn and Speaker Woo, expressing hope that the legislative bodies of both nations will continue working closely to develop a robust legal framework supporting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the agreements reached between the two governments.
Underscoring the vast potential for bilateral cooperation, the President highlighted the need to enhance political trust; increase high-level delegation exchanges; and promote collaboration in defence, security, and the fight against transnational crimes. He also called for stronger cooperation in education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges to deepen mutual understanding and connectivity between both peoples.
Speaker Woo highly appreciated President Cường’s proposals and expressed hope that Việt Nam would continue to support Korean enterprises by addressing existing challenges and creating favourable conditions for the RoK business community to invest with confidence over the long term. He affirmed his intention to work with the Vietnamese National Assembly to support both governments in promoting cooperation across diverse fields for the benefit of their peoples.
President Cường also expressed gratitude for the RoK’s attention to the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Korea. He hoped this support would continue and affirmed Việt Nam’s commitment to facilitating favourable conditions for the Korean community residing in Việt Nam.
The two leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums and to continue contributing to the promotion of lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
