Hà Nội, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Minister of National Defence, Sen. Lieut. Gen Hoàng Xuân Chiến, hailed the remarkable progress in bilateral defence relations between Vietnam and Poland, particularly in personnel training and defence industry, during a reception in Hà Nội for Polish Ambassador to Việt Nam Aleksander Surdej.

In a cordial meeting held in Hà Nội, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Sen. Lieut. Gen Hoàng Xuân Chiến, extended warm appreciation for the substantive advancements achieved in the robust defence cooperation between Vietnam and Poland. The discussions, held on April 17, underscored the mutual commitment to enhancing collaboration in personnel training and the defence industry, signaling a deepening of strategic ties between the two nations.

Sen. Lieut. Gen Hoàng Xuân Chiến, also a distinguished member of the Central Military Commission, lauded the pivotal role played by Polish defence attachés stationed in Vietnam, highlighting their instrumental efforts in fostering bilateral understanding and facilitating cooperation across diverse military domains. He commended their contributions in advancing mutual interests, as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation inked in 2010.

Expressing his aspirations for further strengthening the bilateral relationship, Deputy Minister Chiến articulated key areas of focus, including high-level delegation exchanges, consolidation of existing defence cooperation frameworks, and facilitation of interactions between defence enterprises from both nations. He extended an invitation to Polish Defence Minister and senior officials to partake in the forthcoming Việt Nam International Defence Expo 2024.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister Chiến proposed the signing of a new MoU on defence cooperation, with a specific emphasis on bolstering training collaboration. He underscored the importance of cybersecurity and military medicine as priority areas for Vietnamese personnel training, seeking Polish expertise and support in these domains. Additionally, he expressed openness to welcoming Polish students to Vietnam for Vietnamese language studies at the Military Science Academy.

In response, Ambassador Aleksander Surdej reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to deepening bilateral defence ties, emphasizing readiness to provide support in personnel training and peacekeeping operations. He underscored Poland’s eagerness to share its experiences and expertise in various defence-related fields with Vietnam, reflecting the spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity.

Ambassador Surdej further emphasized the importance of continued support for Polish defence attachés in Vietnam, and the exploration of new avenues for cooperation of mutual interest. He reiterated Poland’s steadfast dedication to fostering substantive and pragmatic defence collaboration for the mutual benefit of both nations.
