Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria Marks National Day and 75 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria on September 10 hosted a ceremony in Sofia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria.
In her remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyễn Thị Minh Nguyệt reflected on Việt Nam’s 80-year journey, from its struggle for independence to its emergence as a dynamic, globally integrated economy. She highlighted the country’s rapid and stable growth, its aspiration to become the world’s 20th largest economy, and its 17 free trade agreements with major partners, including the European Union.
Ambassador Nguyệt expressed gratitude to international partners, including Bulgaria, for their longstanding support and cooperation. She emphasized that bilateral ties have steadily advanced across trade, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, with recent delegation visits and Inter-Governmental Committee meetings opening new avenues for cooperation. She voiced Việt Nam’s determination to elevate relations with Bulgaria to a more practical and substantive level.
Bulgarian Minister of Labour and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov, recalling his visit to Vietnam alongside National Assembly Speaker Rosen Zhelyazkov in January 2024, praised the unique bond shared by the two nations and affirmed Bulgaria’s readiness to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The ceremony featured the cutting of a celebratory cake by Ambassador Nguyệt, Bulgarian officials, and representatives of the Vietnamese community. Guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese music performed by artist Minh Trang, cultural dances by Vietnamese and Bulgarian youth, and Vietnamese cuisine.
As part of the celebration, the ambassador also presented certificates of merit to Vietnamese, business, women, and youth associations, while honouring 11 Vietnamese students for their outstanding academic achievements in the 2024–2025 school year.
Earlier, on August 30, the Embassy and the Vietnamese Association in Bulgaria had co-organized a sports exchange and National Day celebration, further strengthening community ties.
