Vietnamese NA Chairman Arrives in Moscow

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: National Assembly (NA) Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, accompanied by a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow on Sunday afternoon, commencing a three-day official visit to Russia. The visit will see Chairman Mẫn co-chair the third session of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
Upon arrival, Chairman Mẫn and his delegation were greeted by First Vice Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Ivan Ivanovich Melnikov, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Đặng Minh Khôi, embassy staff, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
This marks Chairman Mẫn’s first visit to Russia in his capacity as NA Chairman and the first visit by a senior Vietnamese leader to Russia this year. The visit follows Russian President Vladimir Putin’s trip to Vietnam in June, aiming to further concretize the Joint Statement on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. It highlights the progress achieved over 30 years of implementing the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between Vietnam and Russia, and seeks to enhance the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. This includes bolstering ties between the Vietnamese NA and the State Duma and Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
The visit is also expected to follow up on cooperation agreements reached during the phone talks between Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm and President Putin on August 8.
Chairman Mẫn will hold talks with Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin, with whom he will co-chair the third session of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. He is also scheduled to meet with Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko, during which the two sides will sign a new cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese NA and the Federation Council.
Additionally, Chairman Mẫn’s agenda includes meetings with high-ranking Russian officials, major political party leaders, and regional leaders with established ties to Vietnam. He is also expected to meet with the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and veterans who served in Vietnam.
This visit underscores the continuing commitment of both nations to strengthen and deepen their longstanding partnership.
