Vietnamese Naval Ship Joins Multinational Maritime Exercise in Indonesia

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Ship 09 of the Naval Region 2’s Brigade 171 participated in the naval parade marking the commencement of the Komodo 2025 Multilateral Naval Exercise (MNEK 2025) at Benoa Port, Indonesia, on Sunday.
The 5th edition of MNEK has attracted approximately 3,000 naval personnel from 37 countries and features 40 warships, including 17 from Indonesia. The exercise is designed to foster an open, inclusive, and resilient Indo-Pacific region by enhancing coordinated search and rescue operations, improving collective responses to regional contingencies.
The Vietnamese Navy is actively contributing through participation in maritime security seminars, command and staff exercises ashore, sea drills, and a range of cultural and sports exchanges.
Indonesian Navy Rear Admiral Yayan Sofiyan highlighted that MNEK 2025 is centered around humanitarian assistance, significantly contributing to regional and global stability, particularly in natural disaster management efforts.
Beyond tactical training, the exercise serves as a platform for nations to reinforce diplomatic ties and international collaboration. The event features public tours of warships, defence exhibitions, the 6th International Maritime Security Symposium, engineering civic action programs, and community healthcare services, further strengthening regional security and cooperation.
