Vietnamese PM Urges Strengthened Combat Readiness of General Department II Ahead of Tết

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited General Department II (General Department for Defence Intelligence) under the Ministry of National Defence on Friday, emphasizing the need for enhanced leadership capabilities and combat readiness, particularly during the upcoming Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Commending the unit for its accomplishments as a strategic intelligence agency for the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defence, Prime Minister Chính lauded General Department II for being honored with the prestigious First Class Victory Medal. Several groups and individuals were also recognized with the Victory Medal and Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.

Highlighting the crucial role of General Department II in national security, PM Chính expressed appreciation for its growth and successful completion of assigned tasks, contributing significantly to the defense and well-being of the Fatherland. The unit’s achievements have garnered recognition and high praise from the Party, State, and the Vietnamese people.

In the face of complex global and regional situations in 2024, Prime Minister Chính urged the General Department for Defence Intelligence to be fully prepared to undertake tasks assigned by the Party and State. He emphasized the need for the department to enhance its strategic prediction capacity, maintain situational awareness, and provide sound advice to the Party and State to safeguard the nation effectively.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of streamlining the department’s apparatus, creating a compact, strong, professional, and functional system. He called for the development of a contingent of intelligence officers characterized by political bravery, strategic vision, and professional knowledge capable of undertaking diverse missions.

Recognizing military intelligence as a special force within the armed forces, PM Chính instructed General Department II to evaluate partners and other subjects prudently, ensuring the formulation of appropriate policies. The unit was reminded to adhere to the guidance of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, emphasizing unwavering loyalty and dedication to serving the goals and ideals of the Party, the Fatherland, and the people, regardless of circumstances.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, the Prime Minister conveyed his wishes for the well-being and success of General Department II, acknowledging its vital role in the nation’s security and prosperity.
