Vietnam’s PM Chính Highlights Infrastructure, Industrial Development as Key to Unlocking Thái Bình’s Growth Potential

Thái Bình, The Gulf Observer: Vietnam’s Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on May 12 urged Thái Bình province to boost traffic connectivity and expand industrial infrastructure, identifying these as crucial steps to transform the northern locality into a dynamic growth hub.

Despite its rich revolutionary, historical, and cultural heritage, Thái Bình remains economically underdeveloped. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ninh Bình–Hải Phòng Expressway’s section running through Nam Định and Thái Bình, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure bottlenecks in the region.

The ceremony was connected online with the groundbreaking for the Hưng Phú Industrial Park, another key project aimed at enhancing the province’s industrial capacity.

“These projects reflect the Party’s strategic vision to develop infrastructure as one of the three main breakthroughs for national development,” Prime Minister Chính said, adding that they also embody the government’s goal to foster a favorable environment for both domestic and international investors.

He pointed to the recent launch of a Việt Nam–Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) in Thái Bình in March as a demonstration of this policy in action.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the Hưng Phú Industrial Park, a public-private partnership (PPP) model leveraging “public leadership and private governance.” He encouraged Thái Bình to optimize this approach by promoting smart, green, and sustainable development and attracting investment in high and clean technologies.

The Ninh Bình–Hải Phòng Expressway section, spanning 60.9km and designed for speeds up to 120 km/h, is Vietnam’s largest PPP transport infrastructure project to date, with a total investment of VNĐ19.78 trillion (US$762 million). The project is scheduled for basic completion by 2027 and operations to commence in 2028.

Meanwhile, the Hưng Phú Industrial Park, located in Nam Hưng commune, Tiền Hải district, covers 209.08 hectares and involves an investment of over VNĐ2.3 trillion. It is being developed by the Geleximco Hưng Phú Industrial Park Joint Stock Company, a member of Geleximco Group.

Prime Minister Chính directed all ministries, agencies, and local governments to accelerate implementation timelines and aim for completion by 2026. “These efforts will bring tangible benefits and create long-term socio-economic momentum for Thái Bình, the northern coastal region, and the entire country,” he concluded.
