Wang Yi, Antony Blinken hold phone talks on China-U.S. relations
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken exchanged views on China-U.S. relations during a phone conversation on Monday, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Promoting China-U.S. relations back to a stable development track not only fits the interests of both sides, but also meets the expectations of the international community, Wang said.
Noting the U.S. side has imposed new export ban on China and restrictions on investment in China, he said such acts seriously violate the free trade rules and damage China’s legitimate rights and interests, and must be rectified.
He urged the U.S. side to stop the practice of containing and suppressing China and refrain from creating new obstacles to relations between the two countries.
China’s internal and external policies are open and transparent, and the U.S. side should stop subjective speculation with bias and avoid getting blinded by ideological prejudice, he said.
Blinken said the U.S. side is willing to maintain communication and cooperation with China on the next phase of U.S.-China relations and explore foundations of the relationship between the two countries.
Both sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine issue. All parties should increase diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation or even loss of control of the situation, Wang said, adding that as long as there is hope, the door to negotiations should not be closed.
