Xi meets German Chancellor
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Beijing.
Scholz, who is paying an official visit to China on Friday, is the first European leader to visit China after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The visit will further enhance the mutual understanding and trust between the two sides and deepen cooperation in various fields. It gives the two sides an opportunity to plan for the growth of bilateral ties going forward, Xi said during the meeting.
Noting the complex and fluid international landscape, Xi underscored the need for China and Germany, two major countries with great influence, to work together in times of change and instability and contribute more to global peace and development.
Scholz was accompanied on the trip by about a dozen top German business leaders, including the CEOs of Volkswagen, BMW, BASF, Bayer and Deutsche Bank, most of which are doing a thriving business in China. Scholz will also meet company representatives in Beijing.
