20th Emirates Critical Care Conference and First World Summit of WFICC Kick Off with Global Participation

Dubai, The Europe Today: Today marks the commencement of the 20th Emirates Critical Care Conference alongside the inaugural World Summit of the World Federation of Intensive Care and Critical Care (WFICC). The event, attended by over 2000 medical and nursing professionals from 42 countries, along with representatives from more than 45 scientific medical societies, aims to explore cutting-edge technologies and advancements in critical care, including artificial respiration and the latest pharmaceutical interventions.

Dr. Hussain Nasser Al Rahma, Consultant Emergency Medicine and President of the Conference, as well as President of the Arab International Society of Intensive Care Medicine, Vice President of the Global Network of Emergency Medicine, and President of the Emirates Intensive Care Association, extended a warm welcome to the diverse array of doctors from across the globe. Dr. Al Rahma emphasized the significance of this year’s conference, commemorating its twentieth anniversary since its inception in 2004. Over the years, the conference has evolved into one of the largest gatherings in the field of intensive care, fostering collaboration among 45 associations from various countries to exchange experiences and delve into the latest advancements and research on a global scale.

The conference agenda boasts 301 speakers, including 142 international speakers and 69 regional speakers, alongside 90 speakers from within the host country. Over three days, participants will engage in 310 lectures across 81 scientific sessions, supplemented by eight scientific workshops, five training courses, 87 scientific research presentations for doctors and resident doctors, and six industrial sector seminars. Dr. Al Rahma highlighted the significance of the event’s ancillary activities, where several agreements will be signed to enhance quality standards in collaboration with international bodies, benefiting all stakeholders involved.

Key topics to be addressed during the conference include blood poisoning, infection management, fluid dynamics in the intensive care unit, renal pathology, artificial ventilation, acute respiratory distress syndrome, surgical interventions, anesthesia and pain management, cardiology, nutritional support, geriatric care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and infection control.

Dr. George Helalgo, President of the International Society for Intensive Care, commended the conference’s tremendous success, underscoring its pivotal role in facilitating discussions on the latest innovations and scientific breakthroughs in intensive care within the Gulf region and the broader Middle East.

Dr. Amelia Lako, Head of Nursing at the World Health Organization, emphasized the indispensable role of nurses in critical care settings, stressing that their contributions exceed 70% of the care provided in such departments.

To mark the inauguration, Dr. Hussain Al Rahma inaugurated the accompanying exhibition featuring participation from 40 leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies, showcasing the latest advancements in the field.
