National Bank of Kazakhstan Unveils Digital Investment Coin Project

Astana, The Gulf Observer: The National Bank of Kazakhstan has announced the launch of a new Digital Investment Coin project, aimed at modernizing access to gold-based investments for both local and international investors. The announcement was made by the National Bank’s Chair, Timur Suleimenov, at the XII Congress of Financiers of Kazakhstan.

Suleimenov stated that the new coins, which will become available in early 2025, can be bought and resold through the bank. Investors will also have the option to present these digital coins at district affiliates of the National Bank to exchange them for physical gold investment coins. The digital investment coin will be denominated in tenge, with its price based on its gold weight and adjusted to the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) gold prices and USD/KZT exchange rates set by the National Bank.

The new investment coin, known as the UKI of the “Cult Animals Are Totems of Nomads” series, has a nominal value of 100 tenge, is crafted from 999.9 fine gold, and weighs 31.1 grams. Each coin will be presented in blister packs, underscoring its appeal as a high-quality collectible.

Kazakhstan’s National Bank has a strong track record in numismatics, having issued collectible coins since 1995. The Digital Investment Coin is the latest initiative to enhance flexibility and accessibility in gold investment, aligning with global trends in digital finance.
