Dennis Isika Claims Victory at Brunei Run 2025
Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: Dennis Isika emerged victorious in the first competitive running event of the year, clinching the Brunei Run 2025 title at the Berakas Indoor Stadium.
The pre-race favorite clocked an impressive 0:34:46 in the 10-kilometre (km) open category, outpacing local runner-up Ruzaini Mahadi, who finished with a time of 0:35:08. Amirul Hamdi Jamil secured third place, crossing the line at 0:35:29.
The event rekindled the growing rivalry between Isika and Ruzaini, with Isika also triumphing over his opponent at the End of Year Run in December 2024. In that race, Isika clocked 0:33:05, dethroning Ruzaini, who finished second with a time of 0:33:52.
In the women’s 10km category, Siaw Kim Tho dominated with a winning time of 0:46:56. Qimm Chin secured second place with 0:48:17, while Julia Wijsman completed the podium at 0:50:02.
The 5km open category saw Jimbo Sijim claim the men’s title with a time of 0:17:12. Ahmad Zawawi Rasit and Soon Hau Lau took second and third place with times of 0:17:29 and 0:18:21, respectively.
In the women’s 5km, Linda Chin Hui Ching clinched first place with a time of 0:20:57, followed by Vanessa On at 0:22:09 and Liyana Zakaria at 0:23:22.
Renowned Malaysian fitness influencer Muhammad Khalish, popularly known as Kay Khalish, made a special appearance at the event.
Brunei Darussalam Athletics Federation President Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Mu’min presented prizes to the winners.
