His Majesty Sultan of Brunei to Visit Beijing and Attend 9th Asian Winter Games

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, will undertake a state visit to Beijing, China, on Thursday. Additionally, His Majesty will attend the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games on Friday in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China.

During his visit to Beijing, His Majesty will hold separate meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji. The discussions will focus on reaffirming bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual benefit for both nations and their citizens.

Brunei Darussalam and China established diplomatic relations on September 30, 1991, which were elevated to a Strategic Cooperative Partnership on November 19, 2018. The two countries maintain strong ties in various sectors, including trade and investment, agriculture and fisheries, youth and sports, tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Their collaboration extends to key projects such as the Brunei Guangxi Economic Corridor (BGEC), Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd, and Beibu Gulf Holdings Co Ltd.

His Majesty last visited Beijing in April 2019 to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. His last state visit to China took place in September 2017.
