Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized that the spirit of Vesak Day should serve as a source of inspiration for strengthening national unity, solidarity, and harmony across the country.

In a video message delivered to Buddhists celebrating Vesak Day on Sunday, President Prabowo urged all segments of society to contribute to building a harmonious and peaceful nation.

“The spirit of this year’s Vesak, with its theme of ‘Dharma as a Source of Morality and Wisdom, Love as a Source of World Peace,’ should inspire us all to continue strengthening brotherhood, spreading kindness, prioritizing dialogue, and maintaining harmony in our lives,” he said.

Highlighting Indonesia’s rich diversity of ethnicities, religions, cultures, and traditions, the president noted that Indonesians remain united by a shared commitment to building a peaceful, just, and prosperous nation.

Prabowo stressed the importance of preserving unity and maintaining optimism amid global challenges and uncertainties. He called on citizens to work together and support one another in achieving prosperity for all Indonesians.

“We must continue to work hard and help one another to achieve prosperity for all Indonesians,” he stated.

The president said the values embodied in Vesak Day offer important lessons and provide a strong foundation for strengthening the nation’s character.

“I am certain and confident that the values of compassion, tolerance, and wisdom taught in Buddhism will further strengthen Indonesia’s character as a nation that upholds humanity and peace,” he said.

Prabowo also encouraged all Indonesians to use the occasion of Vesak Day to reinforce national solidarity and social cohesion.

Concluding his message, the head of state expressed hope that the noble values of Vesak Day would continue to guide Indonesia’s development journey.

“May the light of wisdom, peace, and compassion always illuminate our steps in building an advanced, modern, strong, and harmonious Indonesia,” he said.
