Indonesian Red Cross Reaffirms Continued Humanitarian Support for Palestine

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Chairman Jusuf Kalla has reaffirmed the organisation’s continued commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people during a meeting with Grand Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein.

Kalla said PMI, guided by the principles of neutrality and impartiality, would continue delivering humanitarian assistance to Palestinians irrespective of political developments.

“PMI has a non-negotiable humanitarian mandate. Regardless of the political situation, we will continue to stand by the Palestinian people,” Kalla said, according to an official statement.

He emphasised that Indonesia’s solidarity with Palestine would remain steadfast, noting that PMI would continue providing medical, logistical and psychosocial assistance to Palestinians.

“Indonesia will always stand with the Palestinian people. Through PMI, we will continue to provide humanitarian assistance and advocate for a just and lasting peace,” he said.

The meeting, held at Kalla’s residence, was also attended by Palestinian President’s Special Envoy and Adviser Mahmoud Al-Habbash and Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulfattah A.K. Al-Sattari.

Al-Habbash expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s warm reception and continued support for Palestine, describing Indonesia as a longstanding friend that consistently supports the Palestinian cause in international forums.

During the meeting, Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein presented Kalla with a traditional Palestinian keffiyeh.

PMI said the gesture carried significance beyond that of a souvenir, describing it as a symbol of respect and appreciation for Indonesia’s humanitarian role in delivering assistance to Gaza and other Palestinian territories.
