Cairo to host Omani–Egyptian Press Forum
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Egyptian capital Cairo would host the Omani–Egyptian Press Forum from June 5 to June 7.
The forum is being organised by the Oman Journalist Association and the Sultanate’s embassy in Egypt in cooperation with the Egyptian Journalist Syndicate.
The Omani Society for Writer and Literati, Oman Film Society and the National Records and Archives Authority will take part in the forum to be held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
Dr. Nevin Yousef Al Kilani, Egypt’s Minister of Culture will preside over the opening of the forum that will see the participation of a number of media persons, academics, writers and researchers from the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt.
The focus of the discussion session would be the press, history, culture and the future relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt. The guest of honour will be Amr Moussa, former Secretary General of the Arab League and Foreign Minister of Egypt.
The opening of the forum would see a number of activities, including a photography exhibition that will have some 200 photos from historic, tourism and economic fields. The exhibition would also display records and archives on the deep- rooted relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt.
On the sidelines of the forum, a cultural and artistic evening would be organised at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilizations on the second day of the event. It will be a joint session between Oman Journalist Association and Egyptian Journalist Syndicate where a number of writers, literati, artists and poets will deliver their messages in the presence of a number of media persons, artists and officials.
The Omani Egyptian Press Forum brings together media persons from the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt to acquaint themselves with the cultures of the people of the two countries.
With the convening of the forum, OJA aims to encourage holding open press and media discussions to open channels of communication with their Egyptians counterparts.
The opening of the forum would also see the speech of Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, the Sultanate’s ambassador accredited to Egypt and its permanent representative to the League of the Arab States (Arab League), Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Araimi, Chairman of Oman Journalist Association, Khalid Al Bulshi, Chairman of Egyptian Journalist Syndicate, Amr Moussa, former Secretary General of the Arab League and Foreign Minister of Egypt.
The inauguration of the event would also see screening of a movie on the Sultanate for Oman Film Society, which sheds light on the Sultanate development in the fields of culture, construction, health, education and tourism.
The activities of the forum will also include three discussions under the title “The Omani–Egyptian Relations; Deep- rooted history and promising relations” which would shed light on the historic relations between the two countries .
The first session is on the Omani –Egyptian Relations in ancient Egyptian literature, the second is on the future of the economic and investment relations between the Sultanate and Egypt while the third session would be on the media and cultural impact on boosting Omani –Egyptian relations.
