Team Qatar heads to Vietnam to take part in WSDC

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The National English Debate team left for Vietnam yesterday to participate in the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) in English to be held in the city of Hanoi during the period from July 17 to 28 with the participation of more than 70 teams.

It’s a truly global competition for high school debaters held annually and teams from all over the world come together in a battle of minds.

The participation of Qatari youth in the World Debating Championship will serve as a moment of pride.

QatarDebate has taken over the challenge of training and providing support to the team during the limited time frame. The team’s incredible capabilities along with intensive support sessions by debate instructors have made it possible for Team Qatar to qualify to partake in such global events, with the generous support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Such global participations strengthen the partnership between the Ministry and QatarDebate.

The centre seeks to invest in the capabilities of the youth by channelling them into positive outlets that serve to the benefit of their future and achieve their goals.The National English Debate team includes Reem Al Aqili, Fatima Marafi, Fatima Almohannadi, Amira Ishaq and Mira Khalid Mohammed. In addition to the team, a delegation from QatarDebate facilitating support is headed by QD’s UK ambassador Hawa Al Jaradi and debate instructors Tasneem Elias, Mubarrt Wassy and Sajid Khandgar.
