Her presence underscored the nation’s commitment to advancing healthcare through personalized medicine. The ceremony also featured a panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Wadha Al Muftah, Senior Director of Qatar Genome at QPHI, delving into the pivotal role of personalized medicine in clinical practice.

Dr. Salha Bujassoum, Senior Medical Oncologist at Hamad Medical Corporation’s National Centre for Cancer Care and Research, and Assistant Chair of Precision Medicine Committee at HMC, was among the distinguished speakers. Dr. Bujassoum elucidated, “Tumors represent a significant share of genetic diseases, with 95% manifesting as genetic anomalies within affected organs. Through synergistic alliances with scientific entities like QPHI’s Qatar Biobank and the Qatar Genome Programme, we are pioneering preemptive interventions to thwart disease onset. Individuals identified with genetic mutations predisposing them to cancer, via participation in Qatar Biobank, are proactively engaged to adopt preventive measures before symptoms manifest. Precision health transcends treatment paradigms; it encompasses robust preventive strategies.”
