Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Attends Funeral of Iranian President and FM

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the funeral ceremony honoring President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash on Sunday. This was reported by Turkmenistan’s news program, Watan Habarlary.

The Mehr news agency stated that over 40 high-ranking foreign delegations participated in the funeral ceremony held in Tehran to commemorate the martyrdom of the Iranian President and Foreign Minister. The attendees included the presidents of Tunisia and Tajikistan, the prime ministers of Iraq, Pakistan, Armenia, Qatar, Azerbaijan, as well as the heads of parliaments from Iraq, Russia, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Lebanon.

The fatal helicopter crash occurred on May 19 in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, claiming the lives of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Governor Malek Rahmati, and Mehdi Musavi, the head of Raisi’s security team. Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem, the representative of the Supreme Leader in the province, was also on board.

In addition to attending the funeral in Tehran, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ashgabat on Tuesday to personally extend his condolences to the representatives of Iran.

The tragic incident has led to an outpouring of grief and solidarity from leaders and officials worldwide, emphasizing the significant impact and loss experienced by Iran and the international community.
