President Mirziyoyev Reviews Initiatives to Enhance Youth Engagement in Sports
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On November 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev examined proposals aimed at increasing youth participation in sports, underlining its importance as a pillar of state youth policy.
Aligned with the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy and the Year of Support for Youth and Business program, more than 10 million citizens are actively engaged in mass sports across the nation. Various regional and institutional competitions further promote athleticism among the younger generation.
Key initiatives include the establishment of leagues such as the Mahalla League and School League to encourage team sports. Higher education institutions are also set to host competitions like the Student League and Minister’s Cup. Additionally, regional sports clubs will operate under local authorities, with talented youth identified through the ERP Sport electronic system.
To further embed sports in daily life, the proposal designates Thursdays as Physical Culture and Sports Day. Incentives, including bonuses for sports school employees and trainers, aim to foster a culture of regular physical activity.
The President stressed the role of sports in nurturing well-rounded, capable young citizens and emphasized the need for localized opportunities to support their development.
