Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan Explore Joint Ventures in Gas Sector

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are exploring the possibility of establishing joint ventures in new gas fields, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, announced following bilateral negotiations with Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov. The discussions were reported by media outlets.

During the meeting, Kazakhstan presented Turkmenistan with several proposals aimed at exchanging advanced technologies for gas extraction, processing, and transportation. Nurtleu emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration for both nations.

Additionally, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have agreed to increase freight transportation volumes between the ports of Aktau and Turkmenbashi. Over the past three years, the cargo transshipment volume on this route has surged by 50 percent, highlighting the growing economic cooperation between the two countries.

On the same day, Rashid Meredov also held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in Astana, further strengthening the diplomatic and economic ties between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
