Uzbekistan Secures 11 Boxing Spots for Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The qualifying boxing tournaments for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics have concluded, with the Uzbekistan national team securing 11 spots, according to the National Olympic Committee. The competitions were highly competitive, making it challenging for participants to earn their places among the top boxers.

Uzbekistan’s boxing team achieved significant success, with seven men and four women qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics. This marks a historic achievement for Uzbekistan, as it is the first time that the country’s female boxers have secured four licenses for the main competition. Meanwhile, the men’s team continues its strong performance by qualifying for the Olympics for the third consecutive time.

In terms of the number of boxing licenses won, Uzbekistan ranked second, just behind Australia. Australian representatives obtained 12 tickets to the Olympics, while Uzbekistan secured 11. It is noteworthy that Australia’s licenses were predominantly won at the Pacific region tournament, where the level of competition is relatively lower. An Australian boxer who participated in the world qualifying tournament was eliminated in the first round.

Below is a list of the countries awarded the largest number of boxing licenses for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics:

  • Australia: 12
  • Uzbekistan: 11
  • Kazakhstan, Ireland, Brazil: 10 each
  • Türkiye, USA, Thailand, Italy, France, China: 8 each

This accomplishment highlights Uzbekistan’s growing prominence in the international boxing arena and sets the stage for a strong performance at the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
