Abbas Araqchi Begins Role as Iran's Top Diplomat with Visit to Foreign Ministry

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Abbas Araqchi, newly approved by the Iranian parliament to serve as the top diplomat in the country’s 14th government, commenced his duties with a visit to the Foreign Ministry in Tehran. His first official act included paying homage at the Martyrs Memorial within the ministry’s complex, where he honored the martyrs and reaffirmed his commitment to their ideals.

According to NHC, Araqchi’s visit marked the beginning of his tenure, during which he held his initial meeting with the Council of Deputy Ministers. In his address, Araqchi paid tribute to Former Martyr President Ebrahim Raisi and former Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, recognizing their dedicated service to the nation.

Araqchi outlined the key opportunities and challenges facing Iran in the current regional and international landscape. He emphasized the importance of meeting the expectations set by Iran’s Supreme Leader and called for a united and comprehensive effort to advance the country’s interests. The new Foreign Minister stressed the critical role of the Foreign Ministry in successfully promoting Iran’s affairs across various domains.

During the meeting, Araqchi also discussed upcoming diplomatic initiatives with deputy ministers, urging them to approach their responsibilities with seriousness and precision. He expressed gratitude to Ali Bagheri Kani, the acting foreign minister, and acknowledged the efforts of deputies and staff, particularly following the recent martyrdom of the Iranian president and foreign minister.
