Abdullah bin Zayed Chairs Education and Human Resources Council Meeting

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, presided over the council’s latest meeting held virtually. The session was attended by H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation (SHF) and Vice Chairperson of the Education and Human Resources Council.

The meeting aimed to review and advance ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education, boost the UAE’s competitiveness, and establish it as a hub for academic excellence.

Sheikh Abdullah began the meeting by congratulating students, graduates, teaching staff, and parents on the approaching end of the school year and wishing students success in their final exams. He acknowledged the crucial role of teachers and families in fostering academic excellence and supporting students’ academic and professional journeys.

The Chairman emphasized the importance of collaboration among all parties in strengthening the education system and addressing the challenges faced by students. He highlighted the need to support students in their academic progress, help them identify their capabilities and interests, and guide them in choosing academic and professional paths aligned with their ambitions and the needs of the UAE’s various sectors.

Sheikh Abdullah also commended efforts to establish new systems for classifying and evaluating the efficiency of the country’s higher education institutions. He stated, “University classification is a major stride towards boosting transparency, enhancing the country’s competitiveness, and highlighting it as a global destination for pursuing higher education. This attracts top students from the UAE and abroad and distinguished educational professionals from around the world, thereby bolstering the sector’s output and building a generation armed with knowledge and advanced skills.”

H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated students, graduates, parents, teachers, and school leaders on completing another academic year. She praised the dedication and efforts of everyone in the education sector, highlighting the progress made throughout the year.

Sheikha Mariam remarked, “As we approach the end of another academic year, I hope we all take some time to reflect on the progress we’ve made since the fall and start thinking about how we’d like to continue growing in the coming year. While we often celebrate our achievements at this time of year, let’s not forget that progress and growth are just as important. I am inspired by all the hard work from our students and celebrate the progress we have all made towards our ambitions.”

The meeting was also attended by key officials including Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education; Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Development; Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation; Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology and Chairwoman of the Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE); Sara Musallam, Minister of State for Early Education; Hajer AlThehli, Secretary-General of the Education and Human Resources Council; Aisha Miran, Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai; and Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority.

Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi presented the results of the university classification process, part of the UAE’s national framework for classifying higher education institutions. This framework, founded on clear standards and transparency, aims to boost the competitiveness, quality, and results of higher education in the UAE.

Sarah Al Amiri presented a study on the outcomes of implementing various models of public schools, which were launched to offer a wider array of advanced options across the UAE’s educational system. She noted that the ESE conducts periodic efficiency tests on operational results to ensure continued development, enhance the quality of student life, and provide more advanced school services.
